Personal Info
I was born in San Diego, California, and moved to Beatrice, Nebraska when I was 8 years old. I graduated from Beatrice High School in 2013, packed up and moved to Lincoln for college, and have been there ever since. Outside of the office, I am an avid reader, crocheter, and cat parent to Bean. I also have an extremely green thumb, and will talk your ear off about plants.
I am passionate about mental health, wellness and giving back to those in need. I currently volunteer for Mourning Hope Grief Center in Lincoln, where I attend Camp Erin each year. More info about Camp Erin here! I am a welcoming and positive human being, and will always ensure you feel heard, seen and valued.
Professional Info
I graduated with my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2024 from Doane University. Before graduate school, I worked in social work providing care for foster children and families, and at the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Nursing where I helped create a wellness program for incoming nursing students to build resilience and prevent burnout. I have clinical experience in college university counseling centers, hospital behavioral and integrative health settings, and have worked with those aged 4-78. My time at Beatrice Community Hospital further deepend my love for providing services in rural communities, and my passion of providing mental health services for children, preteens/teens and young adults.
Treatment Orientation
My top specialties include anxiety, self-esteem, neurocomplexities, identity and life transitions. I also provides treatment for depression, stress, body-image, grief, phobias, and relationship concerns. I foster a supportive and affirming space, embracing individuality and autonomy while utilizing a trauma-informed approach. I am also a Licensed Psychologist Associate, so I can provide testing alongside Dr. Hill for various needs.
My approach to therapy is centered around connection. I believe trust and rapport with a therapist is fundamental, and the greatest source to healing and growth in therapy. I utilize person-centered therapy, art/play therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, parent training and strength-based modalities through an existential-humanistic lens. I like to do therapy outside of the box, including walk-and-talks and somatic and grounding exercises to engage clients in a more active, non-traditional way. I encourage clients to process through life concerns freely and creatively.
At the end of the day, we are all human! When life gets hard, sometimes all we need is a listening ear and someone to unravel the mental ball of yarn that is our thoughts and feelings. I am here to walk alongside you and empower you through your healing and therapeutic journey.
